Higgs Boson particle


In order to proper understanding of Higgs Boson particle, it is better to take a clear understanding of Standard model in particle physics.

Standard model

Standard model in particle physics is a theory to describe all of the subatomic particles in universe. In standard model a new discovered elementary particle is introduced which is called Higgs Boson particle.

Higgs Boson particle is an elementary particle which is produced by quantum excitation of Higgs field.

Higgs Boson particle is named followed by the name of Peter Higgs, who at first proposed the existence of such particles in universe along with other six scientists worked with him.

The existence of Higgs Boson is confirmed by ATLAS and CMS collaboration based on collision in large hardon collider in CERN.

Standard model and Higgs Boson particle

In standard model Higgs Boson particle is a Boson with zero spin, No electric charge as well as no color charge. It is very unstable and decays into other particle immediately. Higgs field is a scalar field with two nutral and electrically charged component and it forms a complex doublet of the weak isosprin SU symmetry.
